NZ sunniest golf courses

Chasing the best weather for your weekend golfing is a highly technical, very important science. Dedicated websites have been created for golfers to always find the best golf course for weather on any given day.

Here is a list of the ten sunniest places in New Zealand (according to NIWA) with golf courses, so bad weather will never be part of your perfect golf round again. Whakatane in the far North tops the list.

This golf course has fast running greens and lush forgiving fairways. The course with its panoramic views offers golfers, at all levels, a challenging and rewarding 18 holes.

There is nothing like playing golf on a beautiful course right next to a world famous beach. This is a true 18 hole course that runs parallel to the famous 90 Mile Beach to include magnificent views out over the Tasman Sea and enormous sand dunes at Reef Point to the south.

Northern Wairoa Golf Club is a real gem of a golf course. A challenging well maintained 18 holes with something to offer any golfer of any level.

Turangi is at the entrance to the Tongariro National Park, a World Heritage site. A good club house for visitors who are always welcome at this friendly club.

You’ll get a good test of your golfing ability at Dannevirke this is a scenic course with a great variety of holes. You’ll need to cope with some hills, valleys, lots of trees, and avoid the odd road and railway line.

 

Hokitika

Play on one of New Zealand’s few true links courses at Hokitika. Mahinapua Links is the only golf course in New Zealand with outstanding views of Aoraki / Mount Cook, Mt Tasman and the majestic Southern Alps.

Greymouth Golf Club is a picturesque, well-presented 18 hole course situated just 5 kms out of Greymouth.
